so this time of year for the gentiles is usually dedicated to pastel frosting, chocolate bunnies, regular candies in fun colored wrappers (thank you Reese's minis). and for the Jews it is usually the time of year they follow a flour-less diet consisting mainly of matzoh, which is flour that is not allowed to rise. i somehow don't think it's fair that your choices are either candy or no bread, is there no in between? (and yes, i realize that's not the point at all...)
in order to remain relevant during the 8 days of Passover, Crumbs Bake Shop has developed flour-less cupcakes using potato starch and matzoh meal instead. and what's even better is that they have the best names:
• Holy Moses Cupcake - Chocolate cake with fudge filling, chocolate cream cheese frosting covered in chocolate fondant icing with chocolate sprinkles around the edgethe mini cakes retail for $4.50 at all of their 24 locations from April 8th to the 15th as well as at their online bake shop. these fantastically named delights are only a small part of Crumb's extensive Passover menu. Go to the store near you to check it out!
• Raspberry Red Sea Cupcake - Nut cake filled with raspberry preserve, raspberry-vanilla cream cheese frosting, decorated with sliced almonds & raspberry drizzle
• Chocolate & Vanilla Commandments Cupcake - Chocolate cake, vanilla cream cheese filling & frosting, Van fondant icing with rainbow sprinkles around the edge
• Elijah’s Delight - Nut cake with fudge filling and chocolate butter cream frosting, chocolate shavings around the edge
Crumbs is kosher year round under the OKS certification.
